As the county seat of Hillsdale County, the City of Hillsdale offers small town living coupled with natural beauty and abundant recreational, educational and arts and cultural opportunities. 

A cornerstone of our agricultural heritage, the Hillsdale County Fairground is host to many events throughout the year including the Hillsdale County Fair, one of the longest running agricultural fairs in Michigan.  

Hillsdale College provides residents and visitors with educational, entertainment, and arts and cultural opportunities through its fine arts programs and an eclectic offering of musical, dramatic, and artistic programs and performances. 

Hillsdale Community Schools, Will Carleton Academy, and Hillsdale Prepatory School provide public and private K -12 edcuational opportunities and Jackson Community College LeTarte Center offers post-secondary educational options for area residents. 

Hillsdale Community Health Center provides state-of-the-art health care to regional residents and is the only acute care hospital facility in Hillsdale County.

Hillsdale County itself is an outdoor lovers paradise, with  350 lakes and ponds, and is the headwaters of five major rivers.  Many lakes, including Lake Baw Beese located within the Hillsdale City limits, are all-sports lakes.  Multiple City owned parks and the Baw Beese Trail, an 8 mile walking and biking path, offer residents and visitors ample chances to enjoy all types of outdoor activities year round.
